21st Century Postal Service Act of 2012 - Vote Passed (62-37, 1 Not Voting) The Senate passed its U.S. Postal Service overhaul bill. The bill seeks to trim the workforce by about 100,000 employees through attrition and delays efforts to eliminate Saturday delivery and close some post offices. The House has yet to pass its version of the bill. The postmaster estimates the agency needs to trim $22 billion in operating costs to remain in business. Sen. The 1994 law gives federal law enforcement agencies tools to combat crime against women. The reauthorization adds provisions relating to Native American and immigrant women, and sexual orientation. To offset the estimated $6 billion cost of maintaining the current interest rate, the bill would repeal the $12 billion Prevention and Public Health Fund which was created by the 2010 health care reform bill. Violence Against Women Act - S.1925 The Senate may vote on this bill to renew the Violence Against Women Act. NLRB union election rule - S.J.RES.36 This Senate resolution would disapprove of a National Labor Relations Board rule regarding the timing of union elections. Cybersecurity Enhancement Act - H.R.2096 This House bill would fund cybersecurity research. Who are your heroes? For more than 40 years, presidents have presented the Citizens Medal to Americans who have performed extraordinary acts of service for their country or their fellow citizens. Now we're looking to honor a new group of heroes, and we need your help. Take a moment to nominate Americans who have performed exemplary deeds of service outside of their regular jobs and who have provided inspiration for others to serve. They've each devoted their lives to helping others. And the 2012 Citizens Medal is a chance to highlight these everyday heroes for all they do. Here are a few examples of Citizens Medal recipients from last year: Ida Martin created an organization to help working families, disabled residents, and senior citizens in South Carolina who had suffered a financial crisis.   John Keaveney, who fought in Vietnam, founded New Directions -- a home for homeless and disabled veterans with addiction and mental health problems.   Margaret Martin founded the Harmony Project to make quality arts education available to those in some of the most underserved parts of Los Angeles, California. Each of them is a testament to the impact that a single individual can have on his or her community and on the world. Republican primary election

As you know, Virginia takes part in Super Tuesday, and the Fairfax GOP is going to take full advantage of it.  On Tuesday, March 6th, between 5:45 a.m. and 7 p.m., VAMCC plan to dedicate and exhaust every resource for greeting voters at the polls and inviting them to become a member of our team. This time, we need to double our efforts. It's the only time when the voters come to us and we do not have to risk disturbing them with a phone call or a knock at the door. Will you help us strengthen the organization of the VAMCC? We need you to take a shift sometime between 5:45 a.m. and 7 p.m in specific location that our Muslim community known to be voting at.
