In Virginia a person must specify a reason on their absentee ballot application (application available right at the in-person voting poll location). This reason may not be challenged; however, clarification may be requested to satisfy completing the application (see application, ‘Supporting Information Required). There are 19 different reasons that a person may vote absentee. Voting in person is preferred over voting by mail to make sure that your ballot is received timely and counted.
